After completing an engineering course in the field of telecommunications technology, he deepend his understanding of life by becoming a teacher, freelance artist, theatrical director and traveller. At the age of 26 he became a full time lecturer at the School of Art and Design in Dortmund (Germany) after spending several years in the Spanish Pyrenees. During this period he undertook detailed studies of mythology and discovered the most significant symbol of our culture - the horse. At the age of 29 he returned to the Spanish Pyrenees but this time on the quest to search for the real horses - the wild ones. He studied the horses in their natural environment which eventually not only reshaped Klaus Ferdinand Hempfling's own life and personality but also the horse world. His first book "Dancing with Horses" has shaken up the international horse world with his thought provoking theories. The basis of his work is the consideration for the horse's psyche, communication via a body language that is understood by the horse and interaction with these powerful, beautiful, dignified creatures in accordance with nature. Not only is this book a bestseller but also a longseller. Many other books followed and helped his fast growing audience to step into new territory with their horses but also find a deeper understanding of themselves, their wish for fulfillment and joy in the daily work with horses. Thousands of spectators have witnessed Klaus's way of interacting with horses in borderline events where Klaus meets with horses that have become uncontrollable only to see with their own eyes that under the guidance of Klaus these horses come back to their natural state, leaving behind their fears, anxieties and memories of missunderstanding, abuse or mistreatment. Klaus Ferdinand Hempfling has stirred the interest of riders of all classes and has helped many elite horses and their riders to find a new and better understanding between them. His success was covered and reported by many tv stations and press. Klaus Ferdinand Hempfling lives now on the small island Lyo in Denmark. He holds clinics and borderlines all over Europe. Through the steady growing interest in his work here in Australia, we are now organising borderlines and clinics to take place right on our doorsteps.
